ARCADIA CHRISTIAN SCHOOL LIBRARY POLICY The goals of the library program are to support the classroom curriculum, to provide extra curricular books, and to promote student responsibility and stewardship. K-5th grade students check out books during their weekly class library time. 6th graders are on a bi-weekly schedule. Junior High students may check out books before or after school, at lunch-time, and at recess. Hours: Monday through Friday 8:00A.M. to 4:00 PM Circulation: Students may check out the following number of books - Kindergarten and 1st Grade - 1 book
- 2nd Grade - 2 books
- 3rd Grade - 3 books
- 4th Grade through 8th Grade – 4 books
Loan period: - Kindergarten through 2nd Grade - 1 week
- 3rd Grade through 8th Grade – 2 weeks
- A book checked out for a class report may be renewed until the report is completed.
- If a book is overdue, it must be returned before another book may be checked out.
Automatic renewal: Books checked out during the weekly class library time are automatically renewed if the teacher does not bring the class to the library. Overdue notices When a book is over due one week, a notice is put in the teacher’s mailbox, to be given to the student. A weekly notice is sent until the book is returned. Fine for late books: - Kindergarten through 2nd Grade students are not charged late fines.
- 3rd through 8th grade students are charged a late fine of 10 cents per day, excluding Saturday, Sunday, holidays, and absent days.
- There is a two day grace period before a late fine is charged.
- If a student has an unpaid fine, another book may not be checked out until the fine is paid.
- A thirty day late fine of $2.00 and over is automatically billed to the parent’s account.
- Books over-due 30 days are considered lost.
Lost book charges and refunds: - Kindergarten through 2nd Grade: Replacement cost and a $2.00 processing fee
- 3rd Grade through 8th Grade: Replacement cost, the late fee, and a $2.00 processing fee
- Kindergarten through 8th Grade: The “replacement cost” of the book will be refunded to the Student/family if a lost book is found and returned. The late Fine and $2.00 processing fee will not be refunded.
Loss of check-out privileges - The first time a book is returned more than 10 days late, there is a one week waiting period before another book can be checked out.
- The second time a book is returned more than 10 days late, there is two week waiting period before a book can be checked out.
- If books are returned more than 10 days late a third time, the student will lose check out privileges for a period of time to be determined by an administrator and the librarian.
