Dress Code
ARCADIA CHRISTIAN SCHOOL’S K-8
DRESS CODE POLICY

Guiding Principles: Practical - Neat - Modest - Acceptable for Arcadia Christian School students while attending school, day care, or any school-related event. It should not be interpreted as a “Christian” dress standard. A spiritual value should not be attached to clothing and appearance.
Enforcement: You will be suspended from class and school-related events until clothing/appearance is acceptable.

ACCEPTABLE CLOTHING/APPEARANCE


Boys - Approved shirt with shorts or pants. One solid color only for shirts/pants.  Shorts may be plaid.

Girls - Approved shirt with shorts, pants, skirt, skort or jumper. (Dresses OK) – one solid color only. Dresses, skirts, shorts and jumpers may also be plaid. See below for detailed guidelines.

SHIRT STYLES:
Collared shirts/Short or long sleeve (no sleeveless tops)/Always tucked in. One solid color. Polo, Oxford, turtleneck, mock turtleneck with high collar, blouse.

PROPER FIT: Growth does not excuse improper fit. Not too short. Not too tight. Not revealing.
Dresses/Skorts/Skirts/Jumpers: To be modest (almost to the knee). Our guideline is 2 inches or less above the knee (kneeling). This is to be true of any skort, skirt, or jumper regardless of shorts, tights, leggings, etc. worn underneath.
Shorts: One solid color or plaid. Material at fingertips of extended arm. Worn at waist.
Pants: Worn at waist. 
All clothes: Loose, comfortable, modest fit, nothing oversized or skin tight.

MATERIALS
No tight fitting material. No sweatpants. No athletic wear (nylon shorts, nylon pants).

HAIR
No extreme cuts or styles. Hair is not to be colored or bleached. Highlighting that looks natural is permitted..
Boys –Above eyebrows, top of collar and bottom of ear.

Coats/Sweaters/Sweatshirts

  • Any style O.K. worn over acceptable shirt.
  • Proper fit
  • No flannel overshirts

Logos, Appliques, Iron-Ons

  • O.K. for coats, sweaters, sweatshirts
  • All other clothing should be plain except for an allowable 1"-2" logo.

Shoes

  • Practical, comfortable, walking/athletic shoes
  • No extreme or unsafe styles, i.e. loose laces
  • Sandals with heel strap O.K. 
  • No heelies/no shoes with skate wheels 
  • Socks - Boys
  • Socks or panty-hose-Girls

Undergarments

  • Not visible
  • Panty-hose O.K. in Jr. High only
  • Tights, leggings O.K. under skirts/jumpers
  • Shorts under dresses, skirts and jumpers must not show when standing.

Make-Up

  • 7th-8th girls only
  • Minimal amount allowed
  • Applied at home
  • Do not bring to school

Fingernail Polish

  • No extreme or unusal colors
  • Applied at home
  • Do not bring to school

Jewelry

  • Keep it simple
  • Must remove for P.E.
  • Earrings: 2 maximum per ear (in lobe only)
    • Not dangling or hoop
    • None allowed for boys

P.E./Sports

  • ACS issued shirt, shorts, or uniform for grades 6th-8th
  • Following all above mentioned standards
  • Sweats O.K. in cold weather (school colors)
  • Not to be worn in class
  • Grades K-5 should wear appropriate shoes and clothes on P.E. days.

MISC.
Tattoos: Permanent, temporary, or self-drawn designs, names, or images are not permitted.

FREE DRESS DAYS

K-8th – Every Friday
OK to wear -Non-solid colors -T-shirts/jerseys - Shirts untucked 
Please abide by all other standards regarding modesty, neatness (no rips, tears, worn spots, threadbare, etc.), no athletic wear (sweatpants, basketball shorts, board shorts),
no inappropriate images on clothing, no hats.
Students exhibiting behavior problems may lose this privilege.
